Christina Grof


Christina Grof, Ph.D.h.c., is a writer, lecturer, teacher, artict,student of Kashmir Shaivism, and longtime contributor to transpersonal psychology. She studied at Sarah Lawrence College with the renown mythologist Joseph Campbell; they remained friends until his death. She was particularly drawn to his concept of the hero’s journey and the death/rebirth process.

In the mid—1970, Christina co-created the Holotropic Breathwork and in 1980, she founded the Spiritual Emergency Network (SE). She is the author of The Thirst for Wholeness: Attachment, Addiction, and the Spiritual Path and the forthcomeing The Eggshell Landing, and co-author of Beyond Death, The Stormy Search for the Self, Spiritual Emergency, and Holotropic Breathwork. She is a proud mother and grandmother and lives in California with her husband Stan.
